Supporting K-12 Math Teachers to bring engaging, hands-on, research-based math into the classroom

Wa̱p Sig̱agyet also houses a variety of resources to support Math teachers in the classroom. The district has been working with math specialist from across the province such as Carole Fullerton to bring engaging, hand-on math teaching practices to our students.

Tannis Calder 

Tannis Calder has taught in the Prince Rupert School District since 2008. Prior to that she taught in the First Nations communities of Lax Kw'alaams and Lower Post and worked as a Curriculum Developer and Research Assistant with Simon Fraser University as part of the Imaginative Education Research Group. She developed her love for math later in life when she began teaching it and enjoys sharing her passion for problem solving with students and teachers alike.
